Porsche is coming onto the EV market fast and furious. The German high-performance carmaker may have just one EV model, but this one model now includes three body variants with up to five powertrain options. The latest to join the Taycan family is the new Porsche Taycan GTS and Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo.
The new GTS is positioned above the Taycan 4S and below the Taycan Turbo derivatives. While the two new Taycans shared the same GTS moniker, they are do have very different body styles. The GTS Sport Turismo shares its sporty silhouette and rearward-sloping roofline with the Taycan Cross Turismo we saw earlier this year.
The difference between the two GTS is limited to body styles. This means, whichever you choose, it is powered by AC Permanent Synchronous Motors that produces 440 kW (590 HP) (with overboost power; otherwise it is 380 kW/509 HP) and 850 Nm (626 lb-ft) of torque that enables it to rocket from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds with Launch Control and sending it on its way to a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
The electric drivetrain is paired to an 800-volt architecture featuring a 93.4 kWh battery that affords it a combined electric range of 424 – 504 km (about 263 – 313 miles).
Other highlights include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) adapted specifically to the GTS, optional rear-axle steering, a richer sound pattern of the modified Porsche Electric Sport Sound, and a distinctive exterior and interior that include Black or dark detailings.
Also new to the Taycan GTS is the optional panoramic roof with Sunshine Control that allows the roof to not only switch between clear and matte but also allows for predefined patterns, along with Semi and Bold settings.
The 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS and Taycan GTS Sport Turismo will roll into the showroom in spring 2022. Meanwhile, both models are available to order with a starting price of US$131,400 and US$133,300, respectively.
