It is finally official! After months of rumors, LEGO has finally taken the wrap off the LEGO 75313 Star Wars AT-AT Construction Set. You have no idea how long I have been clamoring for a UCS version of the AT-AT. OK. I was since the UCS AT-ST.
The infamous All Terrain Armored Transport we saw at the Battle of Hoth in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back finally gets its long-overdue UCS treatment. Joyous, it is, but at the same time, how should I tell my wife I need this US$799 LEGO set in my life?
Perhaps, I will say it is an enormous set packing 6,785 pieces and when completed, it measures an impossible 62 cm tall, 69 cm long, and 24 cm wide (24.5 x 27 x 9.5 inches) and therefore, it is so dear?
Or perhaps I can justify the price as it is one of the most sophisticated, non-Technic LEGO Star Wars set that boasts a movable head, spinning guns, adjustable legs (note: not just moveable; it’s adjustable – there’s a difference), and side panels that open to reveal crazy detailed interiors, turning it into a la Popular Mechanics-style cross-section model that I have a soft spot for?
Perhaps, I should add that the interior can actually fit up to 40 minifigures and two speeder bikes? Speaking of minifigures, the set comes with 9, including Luke Skywalker, General Veers, two AT-AT drivers, a Snowtrooper Commander, and four Snowtroopers.
When LEGO said this is a must-have for any dedicated Star Wars, it is not lying, but only if you have 800 bucks to drop.
Damn it, it is expensive. Guess it is time to sell more old toys to make way for one new toy? Or is there anyone out there willing to sponsor me a set? Just thought I asked.
LEGO 75313 Star Wars AT-AT Construction Set is expected to release on November 26, 2021. Recommended for ages 18 and up.
