Despite U.S. sanctions, Huawei seems to be making significant strides. For instance, the Hisilicon Kirin 9000S chipset powering the latest Mate60 Pro, Mate60 Pro+, Mate X5 folding phone, and the new MatePad Pro 13.2 is a noteworthy 5 nm chip, a discovery made by users through the latest HarmonyOS update. Apparently.
Now, there’s another device featuring this remarkable chipset: the Huawei Mate60 RS Ultimate Design [CH]. It’s worth noting that, unlike the Mate 50 series, there’s no Porsche Design RS variant for the Mate60. Instead, Huawei introduces the Huawei Mate60 RS Ultimate Design as part of their new super high-end sub-brand. This RS device shares some design elements with its predecessors, such as the octagon camera unit, but now incorporates the latest xuanwu architecture and a dual material design (combining ceramic and metal) similar to the new Mate60 Pro series.
As Huawei’s flagship device, it boasts top-of-the-line features, including basalt-tempered kunlun glass and the xuanwu architecture. It’s a substantial phone, measuring 163.55 mm in height, 79 mm in width, and 8.1 mm in thickness, weighing between 242 and 246g.
Key specifications include a versatile 6.82-inch FHD+ LTPO OLED display with an adaptive refresh rate (1-120 Hz), 16 GB of RAM, and storage options of 512 GB or 1 TB with support for NM expansion cards up to 256 GB. The camera setup includes a triple-camera system (48 MP main camera with OIS, 40 MP super wide-angle camera, and 48 MP telephoto/macro camera with OIS), along with a 13 MP selfie camera featuring a 3D depth camera. It’s IP68 rated and comes equipped with dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type C (USB 3.1 Gen1), NFC, and robust positioning capabilities.
Powering all this is a substantial 5,000 mAh battery, supported by 88 W wired fast charging, 50 W wireless charging, and 20 W reverse wireless charging.
The Huawei Mate60 RS Ultimate Design is now available for purchase in China, starting at a substantial price of 11,999 yuan [CH], which roughly translates to US$1,665 based on the current exchange rate, marking it as a high-end offering.
