Calling all Transformers Beast Wars fans. Takara Tomy is serving up a new masterpiece figure based on one of the most popular characters from the 90s computer-animated TV series. Joining the Transformers Masterpiece MP-43 Megatron, MP-32 Optimus Primal, MP-34 Cheetor, MP-46 Blackarachnia, and the likes is Rhinox. And boy, there are so many things to be excited about this figure.
It is a must-have for any serious fan of Beast Wars because this figure is super toon-accurate – or should I say, vintage CGI accurate – both in beast and robot modes. Indeed, from the official product images, the upcoming Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece MP-59 Rhinox [JP] looks like the CGI model has stepped out of the 90s CGI animated TV series.
The shine it has in his beast mode (which is a Rhinoceros, for those who don’t know) and the metallic green of Rhinox “skin” has been faithfully recreated. Even more crazy is that the beast mode has no hint of the bot mode, well, at least nothing we can see from the product images.
The MP-59 is scaled to match the rest of the Masterpiece Beast Wars figures. You can even recreate the scene of Optimus Primal riding Rhinox in his beast mode by using the included adapter.
Befitting its Masterpiece status, Rhinox comes with quite a number of accessories, including a pair of Gatling hammers, the gadget Rhinox used to search for Optimus Prime’s spark, an alternate face, and the Spark.
The Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece MP-59 Rhinox is expected to ship in June 2024, priced at 35,200 yen [JP] which works out to be about US$236 based on today’s going rate.
