Caterpillar CAT S75 Rugged Smartphone: Satellite Comms Come Standard – If You Are Subscribed To A Plan

Can a rugged phone not look like a rugged phone? Well, the answer is yes. And if that’s what you prefer, then you may want to check out the new Caterpillar CAT S75 Rugged Smartphone. Billed as Cat Phones’ most reliable phone ever, the S75 not only shrugs off anything that life throws at it, but it will even have you covered when there’s a loss of signal – all while looking like a regular, sleek smartphone.

Caterpillar CAT S75 Rugged Smartphone

It is IP68 and IP69K rated, preventing infiltration of sand, dust, and dirt, and is waterproof up to 5 meters (16 feet) for 35 minutes each time. It does not just meet the highest military-grade standards; it obliterates them. It has been drop tested up to 1.8 meters or 6 feet onto steel (!) and it is capable of handling extreme temperatures, from -30°C (-22°F) to 75°C (167°F) for up to 24 hours. Did we mention that the camera is waterproof too and has an underwater mode for shooting below the surface? Yup, it has that. Clearly, this tough phone is not just for work; it is for play too.

Meanwhile, satellite capabilities ensure you are always connected, letting you check in, share your location, and send messages from remote places where you’d normally hunt for hours to get one-bar service – if any at all. Thanks to the constellation of geostationary satellites and Bullitt Satellite Connect, the coverage is fixed and reliable.

The new Caterpillar CAT S75 is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity D930 SoC featuring an octa-core processor with up to 2.2 GHz clock speed, and backed by 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Fronting the device is a 120 Hz refresh rate 6.58” FHD+ display, with protection by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Also on the front is an 8 MP f2.0 tear-drop camera. Around the back is a tri-camera setup comprising a 50 MP f1.8 main camera, an 8 MP f2.2 super-wide camera, and a 2 MP f2.4 macro, with dual flash. The device is juiced by 5,000 mAh and supports a wide range of networks.

As far as physical dimensions and weight go, it measures 171 x 80 x 11.9 mm and weighs 268g. The Caterpillar CAT S75 Rugged Smartphone is available now for £499 (approximately US$611) and it comes with a 12-month free trial of the Essential Plan (satellite plan, activation required).
