Pixel Riders Pixelated Foam Sneakers

Clearly inspired by other popular foam sneakers on the market, Pixel Riders from designer Andrew Kostman add a bit of pixelated flair to the footwear, making them appear almost as if from a video game. Or a low-quality 3D printer.

The shoes are made from injection-molded XL Extralight, which is 3X lighter than common EVA foam. Lighter is good. Now make the soles made out of flubber so I can finally dunk a basketball! According to Andrew, the shoes were designed to “bring back memories of those exciting moments when digital magic was just beginning to take shape. As a footwear designer and a proud child of the ’90s, I’ve always wanted to capture that unique feeling in a sneaker.” Did Andrew manage to capture that unique feeling? Admittedly, that’s a lot to ask from a sneaker.

The shoes come in three colors (Vulcan grey/black, Bubblegum pink, and Milky Way cream) and cost around $265 a pair. For reference, I don’t spend over $60 on new sneakers because I know I’m just going to destroy them within a few days anyways. Mostly because I spend a lot of time running around on active volcanoes, but there’s no better training for playing the floor is lava.
