Xiaomi is known for smartphones, laptops, tablets, and more. Now, it wants to have a piece of the desktop PC market too, starting with the Xiaomi Mini PC. Looking like an Android TV Box and probably size about one, the palm-size Xiaomi Mini PC is the brand’s first-ever desk PC.
Measuring 112 x 112 x 38 mm (or 4.4 x 4.4 x 1.5 inches), the Xiaomi Mini PC is developed in close collaboration with Intel and based on the next-generation Intel NUC (Next Unit of Computing) in small form factor PC.
It is powered by the 12th-Gen Intel Core i5-1240P processor with Intel Iris X HD Graphics, SO-DIMM DDR4 RAM (supports up to 2x 32 GB) and supports both M.2 2280 NVMe and M.2 2242 SATA storage. Please note that the device does not come with RAM and storage solutions.
For the uninitiated, 12th-Gen Intel Core i5-1240P offers 12 Core 16 Threads, up to 4.4 GHz, and 12 MB level 3 cache. The integrated graphic is capable of supporting up to 4K.
The device might just be 0.444L small but it is certainly not lacking I/Os which include two Thunderbolt 4 ports (USB-C interface), two HDMI 2.1 ports, a 2.5G Ethernet port, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 port (USB-A interface), a USB 2.0 port, and a 3.5 mm headphone port. One of the three USB 3.2 Gen 2 supports charging devices when in the power-off state.
Meanwhile, wireless connectivity is by the way of an AX211 wireless card that has both Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. And it has a laptop-level power supply, which is a 100W wall adapter.
Rounding up the feature list is a super sleek CNC-machined unibody aluminum alloy enclosure with chamfered edges and an anodized, sandblasted finish.
Xiaomi Mini PC is currently being crowdfunded on Xiaomi’s crowdfunding platform, Xiaomi Youpin, with an asking price of 2,799 yuan, which works to be around US$402 based on today’s going rate.
