You know that the Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece MPM-12 Optimus Prime collectible figure is based on the 2018 Bumblebee movie. If you watched the movie, you will know that Optimus Prime had a few scenes and you will also know that there was no such thing as a Nemesis Prime aka evil Prime. But that does not stop Takara Tomy from dreaming of coaxing your money out of your wallet.
The new Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece MPM-12N Nemesis Prime is essentially a repaint of the MPM-12 from last year. This means, save for the colors, which are now black and turquoise, the MPM-12N is the MPM-12. This means it converts from truck to robot mode in 49 steps and features articulated hands, waist, head, and chest plate.
A note on the colors this figure wears, though. According to official words, the figure “features authentic Takara Tomy design and deco from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” Now, Takara, please stop messing with my memories. I am pretty sure the notion of Nemesis Prime did not appear in live-action Transformers movies until The Last Knight.
Like the original, it contains die-cast parts and has over 50 points of articulation, and it comes with the same Ion Blaster accessory and the dark version of the Matrix.
The Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece MPM-12N Nemesis Prime Figure was revealed a couple of weeks ago in Japan. It is expected to arrive in the Japanese market in March 2023 for 24,200 yen. Meanwhile, folks in the U.S. can pre-order it via Hasbro Pulse and various online retailers for around US$154.99.
