First debuted in 2013, the sixth-generation Ford Mustang has been in production since 2015 but soon it will be replaced by (finally!) the seventh-generation Mustang. But the question is: with skyrocketing gas prices, is there still a place for gas-guzzling big block engine-powered muscle cars? Thankfully, though, the 2024 Ford Mustang is offered in two new motors: a 2.3L EcoBoost and a 5.0L Coyote V8.
The 5.0L Coyote V8 engine is available on the 2024 Ford Mustang GT and is said to be the most powerful NA engine yet. However, there is no number to back it up at this point.
There are quite a bit of change and additions with the new Mustang. Aesthetically, it has more chiseled lines that make it look like has been clad in armor. If you ask me. It is less “muscle” and more futuristic.
The new Pony will have a new Remote Rev feature that lets you rev the car’s engine remotely using the key fob and there is an available new Electronic Drift Brake for, well, drifting.
Inside the cabin, there’s a high-tech vibe to it, thanks to the immersive flowing and curved digital cockpit display inspired by fighter jets. This digital display is made up of two large customizable digital displays: a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch infotainment screen, and boasts graphics based on the same Unreal Engine 3D creation tool used in modern video games.
Ford also proudly announced that it has “saved the manual transmission” but such true petrol heads’ “luxury” is only available for the 5.0L V8 engine. The Mustang GT with stick shifter includes standard rev-matching that helps hold engine RPM when the clutch is engaged. This retains peak torque between manual gear changes. So does that means there’s no need for heel-toe when downshifting?
Also offered the option of an advanced 10-speed automatic transmission. In addition to a V8 or turbocharged 4-cylinder, the new Mustang is available in a choice of convertible or coupe body styles.
The new 2024 Ford Mustang will go on sale stateside sometime in summer 2023. Pricing, however, is to be advised. Meanwhile, you may learn more about the new Pony HERE.
