Hoshino Resorts Tomamu Is Offering A “Salmon Experience” For Lovers Of Salmon – The Food, Not The Live Fish

How crazy are you over salmon? Super crazy? Well, if so, then one of Hokkaido’s largest resorts, Hoshino Resorts Tomamu, has the right event for you. The resort is planning a salmon experience stay from September 04 to October 31, 2022.

This one-night, two-day salmon-themed stay offers a room for up to four people, filled with salmon decorations – both in its fish form and fillet form. Expect the room’s curtains, mugs, cushions, and more to be decorated with graphics of salmon fish and fillet.

The bedroom itself is inspired by salmon swimming in the river and to prove the point, it has a bed frame that depicts an adult bear and cub hunting for salmon in the river, completing the salmon river theme. That’s not it. Also supplied are nightcaps with a salmon face design and pajamas with salmon motifs, so you can feel like being the very thing you love to savor.

In addition, the observation jet bath (jacuzzi) is salmon-themed too. It lets you enjoy a bath that looks like a salmon roe bowl:

The orange ball (note: not real salmon roe) against the foam of the bath creates an image of a salmon roe (rice) bowl.

Outside of the room, adults and kids alike can experience the process of making your salmon roe by removing the sujiko (roe) from the prepared salmon in lukewarm water. Slide the salmon meat into easy-to-eat pieces and marinate the salmon roe in the soy sauce et cetera.

When all is done, you can savor your masterpiece for breakfast the next day. Kids participating in this event will be offered a full salmon-themed chef getup.

During the stay, guests will be treated to meals prepared using different parts of salmon fish. It is a salmon fiesta.

Over at the resort’s indoor wave pool, another activity awaits salmon aficionados. In this activity, you can experience how salmons struggle upstream by paddling against the artificial waves of the wave pool on a salmon-shaped paddleboard. Well about the board… it is kind of weird that the “salmon” is on its side. Just saying…

Curious minds must be wondering why salmon is so celebrated here. Well, in the vicinity of the Hoshino Resorts Tomamu is the headwaters of the Mukawa River, a place where salmon fishes fight their way up upstream to lay eggs. Plus, salmon has always been synonymous with Hokkaido.

The Salmon Experience will be offered between September 04 and October 21. Each room can accommodate up to 4 people.
