One Transformers fan and LEGO enthusiast known by his Twitter handle mrkgoo thought he “couldn’t justify (the purchase of) the real LEGO OP (Optimus Prime) (Set)” and so he decided to build his own by following the official build instructions.
I know what you are thinking. “That is no MOC.” Well, that may be true but mrkgoo’s built is not a one-to-one copy either. There are three key differences with this build. The most obvious would be the color. It isn’t red and gray; it’s black and white, the color of Nemesis Prime.
That’s not it. Some modifications are required as mrkgoo does not have the parts (such as the eyes, for example). But the most important mod this build has was that it had actual knees that further boosted the original design’s posability. The result is brilliant.
Again, mrkgoo did not stop there. He also put together an Ultra Magnus version aka a white version, without his armor.
In related news, someone has used the original LEGO Optimus Set and rebuilt it into an Alligaticon, the Reptilicon drone made by the Constructicons from the, well, remains of the dissembled Optimus Prime. How fitting.
