The recently released LEGO Creator Optimus Prime was cool, but it is far from perfect. It has no actual knees, it does not come with the trailer, and the truck mode is far from the Freightliner FL86 silhouette on which the G1 cartoon Prime is based.
The last two “issues” have been resolved by moko_bricks and hachiroku92. While clearly there’s no way a brick-build transformable set can look like an 80s Freightliner, fans of Freightliner will be thrilled to know someone has proposed a LEGO Ideas Freightliner FLA 9664.
Created by a LEGO Ideas member, Michael217, the LEGO MOC Freightliner FLA 9664 is a giant-size build of the icon in the trucking industry. Michael217’s proposition stretches 58 cm (22.8 inches) long and measures 23.5 cm (9.25 inches) in width, and 34 cm (13.4 inches) tall (including the stack).
The proposed build features functional headlights, a 6-cylinder engine, opening doors and hatches, a steering wheel that rotates with the wheels, a saddle with semi-automatic coupling, and a PF control system that allows it to be remotely driven. It has a number of motors, including one for the steering wheel, a motor for drive, and a 1M cab lift motor paired with 2 larger actuators.
If you love Michael217’s proposed Freightliner FLA 9664, do consider chipping your support on LEGO Ideas.
