Bluetooth speakers are a dime a dozen and as such, their design has become somewhat mundane – unless they are from high-end brand names. This is where newcomer Trettitre comes in.
Its first speaker, TreSound1 is a 360-degree speaker that promised to deliver room-filling, immersive audio from a single unit while looking like high-end speakers straight out of the drawing boards of established high-end speaker makers.
It is definitely a conversational piece because it looked nothing like a speaker. Inspired by the mountain range, it takes on a cone form and features a handcrafted wooden base in piano finish and metal etching (which is actually the speaker grill). The aesthetic is akin to exotic cars, IMHO. Very exquisite and super classy.
Under the hood, premium quality is delivered through a pair of 1.25-inch neodymium tweeters, two 2.25-inch neodymium full-range speakers, and a 5.25-inch subwoofer, bolstered by a Class-D amplifier.
The conical design also allows room for an interesting, functional design element: the conical top is where you find the power on/off and volume adjustment. There’s really nothing fancy here. It is just a single conical dial to turn on or off the speaker and adjust the volume.
The one dial does it all design is something which I can appreciate as you will not have the situation where someone unknowingly cranked up the volume dial when it is off – which is sure to happen due to the interesting aesthetic – because it has to be turned on and then the volume gradually increased.
Speaking of turning on… when the device is powered up, ambient light will be cast onto the surface it is on. Snazzy.
Connectivity is via Bluetooth CSR 5.1 aptX but there is also a wired option, via a 3.5 mm auxiliary port using the included cable. It does not appear to have a battery option so it has to be near a wall outlet.
The TreSound1 360-Degree Surround Sound Hi-Fi Speaker is available in three colorways: Majestic Mountains, Snow Peak, and Green Hill. As of now, it is only available in a pre-sale campaign on Indiegogo at a 50% discount, at US$399. If you want one, you may want to act on it quickly because the last check, only four units are left.
