Beyond the original Star Wars trilogy, Lucasfilm Ltd. was responsible for one of the most iconic fantasy movies to emerge in the 80s: Willow. Every kid born in the 70s and early 80s would have watched it. I am no exception. If you are like me, still holding on to that awesome memories, then will be glad that there is a new Willow story. Yay, I guess?
This Willow is not a reboot, though. It is a brand new story that is set around 20 years after the events of the original film. Also, it will not be a film; it will be a series that will premiere on, you guessed it, Disney+.
Of course, it will be a series. Why would anyone make a movie that someone watches one time and never returns, right? Plus, Disney+ now has subscribers to satisfy and it needs to grow its subscriber base. In fact, we predict that many cult movies eventually will be turned into series.
Anyhoo, as for this exciting series goes, expect to see new characters joining the adventure, including three heroines from the Kingdom of Tir Asleen.
The new Willow was revealed during the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim last week. During the announcement, an official teaser trailer was also shared. You can find the teaser after the break. The new Willow will start streaming on Disney+ on November 30, 2022.
