Red Magic has just concluded the official reveal of the Red Magic x Transformers collaborations. To call it a Red Magic x Transformers Gaming Smartphone would not be appropriate because this collab extends beyond phones to include a bunch of optional accessories.
While Transformers smartphone collab is not new, the Red Magic x Transformers will make iQOO’s collab with Hasbro look amateurish. For a start, the collaboration has not one but two smartphones.
Both devices are inspired by live-action Transformers movies, with one device drawing its inspiration from Optimus Prime and the other, Decepticon (strangely, not specifically Megatron). The former is based on the Red Magic 7 Pro while the latter is based on the Red Magic 7.
The Red Magic 7 Pro Optimus Prime Edition sports a blue and silver back cover, decorated with a red flame design along with a slightly debossed Autobot logo, alongside the Red Magic logo.
Meanwhile, the Red Magic 7 Decepticon Edition is rocking a dark back cover with purple accents, plus the Decepticon logo in purple and a red Red Magic branding.
As expected, the spec-sheet details of the respective devices remain unchanged. This means features like an under-display camera, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, 135 Magic Flash Charge, ICE magic cool heat dissipation with built-in high-speed fans, and Red Core 1 independent gaming chip for the Optimus Prime cobranded Red Magic 7 Pro and 165 Hz refresh rate display, also Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, 120W Magic Flash Charge, ICE magic cool heat dissipation with high-speed fans, et cetera for the Decepticon cobranded Red Magic 7.
In addition to the obvious back cover and packaging co-branding, the Optimus Prime 7 Pro’s RedMagic OS 5.0 features a custom Optimus Prime UI while the Decepticon 7’s RedMagic OS 5.0 has a Decepticon themed UI.
Those are not it. There is also a custom cable with special weather effects and faction symbols of Autobot and Decepticon, an Autobot/Decepticon branded phone case, an Autobot/Decepticon cobranded external fan, an Autobot and Decepticon SIM ejectors, a G1 Optimus Prime/G1 Megatron collector’s pin, and a Magic fast charger in a special weathered colorway featuring the respective factions’ logo. Basically, this collab has all the works.
The Red Magic 7 Pro Optimus Prime Edition is offered in 18 GB + 512 GB configuration and has a retail price of 6,999 yuan (or roughly US$1,068). The Red Magic 7 Decepticon Edition, on the other hand, is offered in 16 GB + 512 GB configuration and will sell for 5,999 yuan (around US$916). They will go on sale, in China, on April 28, 2022, at 10 AM.
In addition, Autobot-themed GaN wall chargers can also be bought, along with a super cool Autobot-branded 10,000 mAh power bank, Autobot/Decepticon-themed cables, and an Autobot-branded Red Magic TWS earbuds. The Autobot external fan that came with the respective phones can also be purchased separately. Prices for the aforementioned accessories start at 49 yuan and run up to 279 yuan (about US$7.50 to US$43).
