Zebra Crossing That Mimics The Pattern Of Actual Zebra

If you reside in English-speaking countries outside of the U.S., you’d be familiar with the term zebra crossing. Zebra crossing is also known as a crosswalk in the U.S. and some parts of Canada. Zebra crossing is so named because white stripes are used to mark an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing where pedestrians have the right of way.

Zebra Crossing That Looks Like Real Zebra Pattern
Our thought is, the zoo should adopt this in the park.

Anywho, for those who are familiar with the term zebra crossing… have you ever looked at the zebra crossing and wonder why it does not look like the stripes on a real zebra?

Obviously, we shouldn’t always take naming too literally but that did not stop one Singapore resident from pondering this question and proceeds to paint a zebra crossing – presumably outside his house – to resemble the stripes of an actual zebra crossing.

The result, I must say, was pretty impressive. Not going to lie. I like it a lot over the boring, straight white stripes. Unfortunately, the authority in Singapore was not amused. The man, apparently known as Jack Sim, was asked to remove his prototype zebra crossing.

In case you are wondering why the big news about it… well, this man not only painted a beautiful, more relatable to real zebras pedestrian crossing but also pitched to the local authority to make it an official crossing. But we know how it ended.

Anyways, this isn’t new. The post about this radical crossing first surfaced in 2016 and it apparently went viral again recently.
